The excitement and anxiety displayed by the expecting parents are second to none. Rhetorical questions start springing up;
Who will the baby look like?
What is the sex of the baby?
Will the baby really arrive on the EDD?
What name should we call the baby?
The expecting parents have probably thought about the things they perceive as the necessity for the baby; which may include clothes, beddings, rockers, toys, pacifier, strollers, diapers, and feeding materials and many more…
In the midst of all these preparations, parents lose sight of right baby safety tips to put in place. There is a popular saying that children reinvent your world, this also includes your home. The arrival of a baby entails that you look at your home in a whole new light. Babies are naturally curious and you will need to assess your home for lurking dangers.
Below are things you need to put in place to ensure your baby safety:
- Smooth the Edges.
Anything breakable or with sharp edges must be removed. Glass and metal materials are not baby friendly. If you must keep a glass or metal furniture you have to properly wrap the edges with either bubble wraps or plastic guards.
- Cover all electrical power sources.
Ensure that all electrical sockets within reach are properly covered. Get safety latches for all cabinets within reach.
- Get rid of your magnet and dangling cords. Make sure you don’t have any dangling cords, either for window blinds or appliances.
- Ensure that the floor covering is not slippery.
Don’t wait until disaster strikes before you think about safety. Prepare your home for when your baby is ready to explore. A stitch in time saves nine.
